Urban Peace Institute Trains in Racine

Urban Peace Institute trained street outreach workers and "community connectors" in Racine, Wisconsin last week. The training covered topics like Professional Standards of Conduct, Building and Maintaining a License to Operate, and Rumor Control. Trainees were invited to share current violence dynamics with the training team to strategize on unique solutions for reducing violence in the area.

Instructors included Urban Peace Institute's Community Safety Fellow Ben "Taco" Owens, as well as peacemakers Tina Padilla of Community Warriors 4 Peace and Javier Martinez of Arise & Go. As the training concluded, participants reported feeling motivated to enhance their efforts to create peace and safety in their communities. Urban Peace Institute is proud to work with cities across the nation to expand the field of community violence intervention.
