Community-Based Public Safety Advocacy Continues at the Capitol
November 11, 2021

Last week, the Urban Peace Institute’s Fernando Rejón met with Karen Bass and national leaders to highlight effective strategies to end gun violence.

The Urban Peace Institute traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with national leaders to educate them on the effectiveness of peacemakers to reduce violence. Most notably, Fernando Rejón met with our local representative, Congresswoman Karen Bass, to discuss the importance of community violence intervention workers in ending gun violence in Los Angeles. Fernando was joined by our partners, Paul Carrillo from Giffords, and Melvyn Hayward from Chicago CRED. Thank you to Representative Bass for meeting with us and recognizing the efforts of our local peacemakers.
