Community Conversations: Youth Justice Reimagined

LA County’s youth justice system is in crisis—and it’s unacceptable. 

Join us on Wednesday, August 27th at 5:30pm as we discuss the future of youth justice in Los Angeles County, how we’re working to protect Black and Brown youth caught in the system, and how you can make a difference in this movement! 

In 2020, stakeholders from across LA county—including  Urban Peace Institute and our Los Angeles Youth Uprising Coalition (LAYUP) partners—convened to build a new vision called Youth Justice Reimagined, which calls to phase out our county’s fatally flawed juvenile Probation system and build up a Department of Youth Development which centers care, support, and accountability rather than incarceration and punishment. We invite you to learn more about our work to transform the harmful youth prison system and empower the county to better support justice-involved youth through youth development and reentry programs.
