Restoring Peace Across the Country

There has never been more demand for violence intervention trainings. In the past three months, UPI has presented introductory and advanced courses for over 267 brave peacemakers working in Los Angeles, Chicago, Stockton, and Sacramento. Most recently, we trained 150 gang intervention and community workers for the City of Los Angeles’ GRYD Summer Night Lights program. This program will kick off on June 26 to transform neighborhood parks that have been adversely affected by gang activity into vibrant community centers that promote peace, health, and safety for all neighborhood residents.

UPI also trains and supports resident leaders in South Los Angeles to create safe and healthy communities. Pictured above is our latest convening of Harvard Park residents working to create safe passages throughout their neighborhood to ensure families feel comfortable traveling to and from their local parks and schools.
