DOJ CVIPI Conference in Chicago

Urban Peace Institute (UPI) attended the 2024 Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative (CVIPI) Grantee Conference in Chicago. Fernando Rejón, UPI's executive director, moderated a panel on "The Evolution of Credibility in CVI" that delved deeper into the growing roles and responsibilities of peacemakers. As the field expands, it's critical that investments are made in equipping practitioners with the professional skills and knowledge that support their License to Operate, while also ensuring practitioners are leading and shaping the community safety agenda.

Claudia Bracho, Andre Christian, and Ben Owens, UPI's CVI specialists, also sat on various panels to provide on-the-ground practitioner insight. We're grateful for opportunities to gather in community with hundreds of leaders and professionals to help shape our goal of building a robust community-based safety infrastructure nationwide.
